Overview

Gaming World Media (“Gaming World”, “we”, “us”) operates a network of gaming publications, social channels and partner services. This policy explains what we collect when you read our sites, subscribe to our newsletters, enter a giveaway, attend one of our events, or contact us about a partnership — and what we do with it.

It applies to gamingworldmedia.com and the owned-and-operated brands listed on our Network page. Where one of those brands runs its own separate notice, that notice takes precedence for that property.

Information we collect

Information you give us. This includes your name, email address, company and role when you submit a partnership enquiry, subscribe to a newsletter, apply for a role, or register for an event. If you enter a giveaway we may also collect a postal address in order to send a prize.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit our sites we receive standard technical data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed and time spent. We use this to keep the sites working and to understand which coverage resonates.

Information from third parties. Our social and video channels sit on platforms we do not control. Those platforms provide us with aggregated audience metrics — age bands, territories, reach — but not the identity of individual followers.

How we use information

To operate and improve our sites, apps and newsletters; to respond to enquiries and manage partnership conversations; to run events, giveaways and creator programmes; to measure the reach and performance of our content; to detect abuse or fraud; and to meet legal or regulatory obligations.

We rely on legitimate interests for analytics and editorial improvement, consent for marketing emails and non-essential cookies, contract where we are delivering a service you have asked for, and legal obligation where the law requires it.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to make the sites function, plus analytics cookies to understand traffic patterns. Some pages embed third-party players and social posts which may set their own cookies once loaded.

You can refuse non-essential cookies through the banner shown on your first visit, and change your choice at any time through your browser settings. Refusing them will not prevent you reading our coverage.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who host our sites, send our newsletters or process event registrations on our behalf, and only under contract; with partners where you have explicitly asked to be introduced; and with authorities where we are legally required to do so.

Where a campaign is delivered with a publisher or brand through Second Party, reporting shared with that partner is aggregated and does not identify individual readers.

Data retention

We keep enquiry and partnership correspondence for as long as the commercial relationship is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form. Where we no longer need information, we delete it or irreversibly anonymise it.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, withdraw consent, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can exercise any of these by writing to us at the address below.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops marketing but does not stop operational messages about something you have specifically asked for, such as an event you registered to attend.

Children’s privacy

Our sites are intended for a general gaming audience and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

We operate internationally and our service providers may process information outside your country of residence. Where information leaves the UK or EEA we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to keep the same level of protection with it.

Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit, and vendor review to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we will notify you and the relevant regulator where we are required to do so following a breach.

Third-party links and embedded content

Our coverage links out to storefronts, publishers, creators and social platforms. Once you follow a link or interact with an embed, that third party’s privacy notice governs what happens next. We are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as our services change or the law requires. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you directly.
